Fertility & Women’s Pelvic Ultrasound Scans
At DG Baby Scan, we are pleased to welcome UltraDiagnostics Fife, who offer specialist fertility and women’s pelvic ultrasound scanning within our studio.
Scans are performed by Gill Rooney, registered clinical specialist sonographer with over 30 years experience working with the NHS. Gill strives to provide a professional and supportive service in a comfortable, welcoming environment.
Whether you are beginning your fertility journey, exploring possible causes of symptoms, or looking for further information about your reproductive health, ultrasound scanning can provide valuable information to support your ongoing care.
Fertility Ultrasound Scans
Fertility ultrasound scans can help assess the appearance of your reproductive organs and provide useful information when planning a pregnancy or investigating fertility concerns.
Depending on your individual needs, a fertility scan may assess:
• Ovaries: their appearance, size and follicle development.
• Antral follicle count (AFC): a count of the small follicles visible within the ovaries, which may help inform an assessment of ovarian reserve.
• Uterus: the size, shape and appearance of the womb.
• Endometrium: the thickness and appearance of the uterine lining.
• Pelvic structures: assessment for findings such as ovarian cysts, fibroids or other abnormalities where visible.
Your scan findings may help inform discussions with your GP or fertility specialist about any appropriate next steps.
Women’s Pelvic Ultrasound Scans
A pelvic ultrasound can help investigate a range of gynaecological symptoms and concerns. Depending on your reason for attending, the scan may assess the uterus, ovaries and surrounding pelvic structures.
You may wish to consider a pelvic scan if you have concerns relating to:
• Pelvic pain or discomfort.
• Heavy, painful or irregular periods.
• Suspected ovarian cysts or uterine fibroids.
• Changes in your menstrual cycle.
• General gynaecological health concerns.
Ultrasound findings can help guide further assessment where needed. A scan cannot diagnose every cause of pelvic symptoms, and some findings may require additional investigation.
Your Appointment
We understand that fertility and gynaecological concerns can feel personal, and we aim to provide a respectful, supportive and comfortable environment throughout your appointment.
UltraDiagnostics Fife offers this service independently within the DG Baby Scan studio, with scans performed by Gill Rooney.
Please note: An ultrasound scan is an assessment of your pelvic and reproductive anatomy. It cannot guarantee fertility or predict whether or when you will conceive. Your findings should be considered alongside your medical history and any other investigations recommended by your healthcare professional.
