We fully understand here at dgbaby scan how worried and anxious parents can be in those first few weeks of pregnancy . We know It can be a time of heightened anxiety due to possible bleeding and pain but also previous losses or specialist fertility treatment .

To offer assurance in those first few weeks we have created a specialist clinic which will offer scans at the earliest point in pregnancy. These scans will be performed in a more calm, private setting offering longer appointment times to enable counselling and discussion if required.

Ideas appointment for assurance following

  • Bleeding/Pain from 6 weeks

We need to talk about Early Pregnancy Loss

We understand that not all pregnancies will be successful and that is the main reason we wanted to offer this specialist clinic. We know if you are attending due to concerns over miscarriage you will be extremely anxious and concerned. This clinic will ensure a private setting with an empty waiting area. Please be certain you will be well cared for in this situation and steps made to ensure the process of dealing with the news is as kind as possible.

I have taken the time to document some facts on early miscarriage.

The most common time for a miscarriage to occur is within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy this is also known as the first trimester.  Sadly 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in early miscarriage, for most women we never know we are pregnant and put it down to a late period.

Many miscarriages in the first trimester are caused by chromosomal abnormalities (problems in your babies development) but it is also thought that around half have underlying causes.

What causes a miscarriage?

There are many reasons why a miscarriage may happen, although the cause is generally not known. I often get asked by clients, if there is anything they have done to cause the miscarriage? The answer is always no!

We need to remember Mother Nature is in charge of our pregnancies and nothing we do will ever intentionally cause miscarriage.  It is thought that most miscarriages are caused by abnormal chromosomes in the baby.. which is something we can never change.

For most women a miscarriage is a one-off event and will go on to have a successful pregnancy when the time feels right, for some couples this is straight away for others it can be longer.

Donna has completed training with SANDS and the Child Bereavement Trust and has cared for many couples who have experienced this unfortunate event. We promise to care for you to the best of our ability.

We support Sands and the amazing work they do. If you need further counselling please contact them for specialised support
